山东省潍坊市是世界风筝的发源地，其制作风筝有两千多年的历史。目前，世界上70%以上的风筝都是出自于此，“国际风筝联合会”的总部也设定在了潍坊。2006年5月，潍坊风筝被列入第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录。

将非遗做成产业，并不断赋予其生命活力，潍坊是认真的。目前，当地风筝产业从业者有几万人，产值也过20亿元。潍坊风筝注重与时俱进，在技术上，制作原料由以前的纸和塑料更换为现在的纤维材料，生产方式也由以前的手绘风筝样式转变为现在的3D打印、激光切割、数字设计等技术；在款式上，也创意无穷，万物皆可飞：游走的大章鱼碰面巨型大蜈蚣，超人大战猪八戒等，神话、浪漫元素应有尽有。去年，长8米的巨大空间站主题风筝更是火爆全国，是潍坊近20位风筝传承人结合现代技术进行制作的，还原了神舟飞船与天宫空间站对接和宇航员出舱太空行走的景象。

在传承与保护上，潍坊风筝传承人们不但建立起非物质文化遗产传承基地，还到外国进行非物质文化遗产方面的交流，参与展会或者受邀去孔子学院等机构进行技艺讲解，让潍坊风筝真正飞向了世界。
In terms of inheritance and protection, Weifang kite inheritors have not only established intangible cultural heritage bases but also engaged in exchanging ideas in communication with foreign countries.
