庞茂琨的作品的最大特点是对人的关注，表现人的面貌，在人的面貌刻画中，表现人的精神世界。他的作品中的人物既是独立存在的客体，又是被画家感知了的，理念化和情绪化了的客体。他的艺术语言是古典的，而包含的精神却是现代的。
他尤其擅长画人物肖像画，大部分绘画创作的方式是写生。他写生的特点是保持人物的生动性。很多油画大师画画都是不画背景的。他也是这样，他只专注于刻画人物肖像的本身。

艺术家简介
庞茂琨，1963年生于重庆，1978年至1981年就读于四川美术学院附中，1981年至1988年就读于四川美术学院油画系并获油画专业硕士学位，四川美术学院原院长、中国美术家协会副主席、重庆文联副主席、重庆美术家协会主席，中国美术家协会油画艺委会主任，中国美术家协会国家重大题材美术创作艺委会副主任、中国油画学会副会长。
