On Monday, November 22nd, Jinan Thomas School held a special flag-raising ceremony to open the week’s activities.

A special flag-raising ceremony
Each ceremony begins with a moment of silence followed by the procession of the Chinese National Flag.
JTIS flag bearers for today’s assembly were Feilong Su (Kami), Zhien Xu (Caroline), Boyu Peng (Felix) and Letian Sun (Nancy) all from JTIS G4 class, marched in unison to escort the national flag to the flag-raising tower.
7点40分，全校师生肃立，伴着《歌唱祖国》，来自四年级的护旗手苏飞龙、徐智恩、彭博宇、孙乐甜踏步而行、整齐划一，护送国旗走向升旗台。
Flag-raisers: Meitang Wang and Xiangyu Ning (Nana) put the national flag on the flagpole, and watched the bright five-star red flag rising slowly to the national anthem of the People's Republic of China.

Appreciation week gives our students an opportunity to thank their families, their classmates and friends for bringing them foreign culture and warm friendship;
Thank society for providing an environment for comfortable living and healthy growth;
Thank China for bringing peace, security and strength to them despite the severe epidemic.

After the flag-raising ceremony, the JTIS G4 students brought a class presentation with the theme of Appreciation Week.
升旗仪式结束后，外籍人员子女学校四年级学生带来了感恩周主题班级展示。
Take this as an opportunity, meanwhile, put forward the proposal, hope that everyone could feel the silent and ordinary love around us, be grateful, and actively face life.
并以此为契机，提出倡议，让大家用心去感受身边无声又平凡的爱，心怀感恩之情、积极地面对生活。
Gratitude is a virtue worth remembering. Presenters Jeronimo and Ellie started by asking people to be grateful for the people around them:

This could be done by greeting parents, friends and teachers in the morning, helping people in need, respecting the old and protecting the young, cherishing every grain; being kind to everyone.....

They also talked about what they saw and felt, and shared their parents' understanding of gratitude, which is often most real in life.

Alice and Aiven brought two poems about gratitude in both Chinese and English respectively, which take everyone into the depths of poetry.

Finally, the G4 students thanked everyone with a song "Listen to me thank you", to remind everyone of gratitude.

The theme of gratitude is timeless. Although Appreciation Week is a short week, the mission of Thanksgiving education will not end.
